Fourth graders put their engineering skills to the test during the Marble Cauldron Challenge! Students in Mrs. Kramer and Mrs. Botha’s classes enjoyed an hour of hands-on STEM learning in the elementary library. Working with limited supplies, their mission was to design and build a structure capable of suspending a plastic cup “cauldron” filled with 20 marbles. The challenge encouraged students to think creatively, collaborate with teammates, and use trial and error to solve an engineering task.

First grade students enjoyed a literacy activity in the library featuring the book 100 Mighty Dragons All Named Broccoli by David LaRochelle. A funny and playful introduction to early math concepts. After reading the book, students reinforced their math skills with a hands-on activity by playing the Disappearing Dragons game.

Growing Young Minds Through Generous Giving
Each year, the Foster County Soil Conservation District generously donates books to our elementary school library, helping educate and inspire our young readers while fostering an appreciation for our natural world. Students in Mrs. VanRay’s third grade class were the first to check out this year’s new books.
Thank you to the Foster County Soil Conservation District for your generosity and commitment to educating our students.

(What I Need Time), where all students receive differentiated instruction according to their academic strengths/weaknesses.
