Argonomy Team Places 3rd at Nationals, DePew High Individual

The Carrington FFA Agronomy team placed third at the National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 27-30.  Team members included Trapper Depew, Jacob Rexin, Elizabeth Lee, and Joe Lindberg.  Individually, Trapper Depew was the first-place individual, earning a medal and a $1,000 scholarship.  Jacob Rexin, Elizabeth Lee, and Joe Lindberg all earn gold individual awards.  The Agronomy Team is coached by Bruce Bachmeier, Joel Lemer and Missy Hansen.

The team first completed a virtual portion of the event in August, consisting of a written test, grain grading, plant identification, seed identification, soils questions, weed identification and a pest management section.  By placing in the top 50%, the team qualified for the in-person portion of the competition held at the National FFA Convention.  The in-person portion of the event included addressing current agronomic issues, placing classes of hay and green peppers in addition to completing a complex team problem and presentation.
