Week of May 4 – 8 Lesson Plans

Kindergarten Families,

Please continue to check in with Seesaw for our learning videos, activities and for communication during the week.  As always, the most important thing you can do at home is…read, read, read, read, read!!

 

Language Arts Focus:

  • Using Capital Letters and Punctuation in sentences
  • Practice consonants and their sounds, at the beginning & ending of words
  • Practice vowels and their sounds, in the middle of 3 letter words
  • Read with someone or Read independently a book of your choice!

We will review consonant and vowel sounds with you.  This will help us to build words and read words!

 

Math Focus:

  • Write numbers to 20
  • Continue counting to 100 by ones & tens (even starting at a number other than 1)
  • Addition and Subtraction within 10

Learning Opportunites:

  • Various Seesaw activities will also be available
  • Use IXL
  • Use Epic
  • Write and Draw in your journals – send a picture or video to me through Seesaw
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Playdough, Leggos

  • Practice consonants and their sounds
  • Practice vowels and their sounds

We will review consonant and vowel sounds with you.  This will help us to build words and read words!

Math Focus:

  • Counting to 100 starting at number 1
  • Counting to 100 beginning at a different number, like 12
  • Compare & Contrast numbers

Seesaw activities will be assigned to help you count to 100.   Continue to count to 100 by ones and also by tens.

Learning Opportunites:

Language Arts Focus:

  • Learning about authors and illustrators
  • Learning about why the authors wrote their stories
  • Remembering consonant sounds
  • Remembering vowel soundsSeesaw activities will be assigned related to stories. Can you tell what an author and an illustrator are? Kindergartners, can you tell why the author wrote a story? Robert Munsch is a funny author!  Do you have any of his stories?

We will review consonant and vowel sounds with you.  This will help us to build words and read words!

 

Math Focus:

  • Counting to 100
  • Learning about word problems/story problems

Seesaw activities will be assigned to help you count to 100.  Can you count all the way to 100?  Can you count past 100?

Kindergartners will practice story problems.  We use “addition”, the + sign, when we have some and we get some more.

There will be a few “subtraction” stories and that’s when we use the “-“ sign.  This is when we have some and then some of them went away!

 

Learning Opportunites:

There will be a variety of “learning opportunities” throughout the week.  These are optional!

  • Read a book outside
  • Write letters, words, shapes, numbers in shaving cream.

Kindergarten Families,

Our Kindergartners will be able to take their iPads home!  There are apps on the iPads that they can use that they are familiar with.

We will continue to use the Seesaw app.  We have set up activities for the Kindergartners to try.  Please feel free to contact us at any time through Seesaw with any questions or concerns.

Seesaw Learning Activities in Kindergarten

  1. Click on your child’s name.
  2. Under the heading -Kindergarten 2019-2020 -on the top right, click on “Activities”
  3. Choose from the selection that we picked out
  4. Click on the green rectangle towards the bottom right that has a +sign and the words: “Add Response”.  This will let the kids work on the activity.
  5. When your child is finished, they can click on the green circle with the white checkmark. This will submit the activity to their teacher.
  6. You are also welcome to have your child take a picture of other activities they are doing at home on Seesaw for their teachers to see. Video messages would also be welcomed!

As always, one of the most important things you can do is to continue to read together often at home!

All activities that we have prepared are opportunities to learn at home.  Feel free to add your own creative learning activities (cooking, plays, painting, crafting…).  We would love to see and hear about what you are doing while you are home.  This can be done through the classroom Seesaw app or the classroom Facebook page.
